The Pottawatomie County Jr Livestock Show nominations will be December 11 at the Shawnee Expo Center from 8am to 4pm. ALL animals that will be shown at the 2009 county livestock show MUST be brought to the Expo between 8am and 4pm on December 11.

To conclude the 4-H Month celebrations, 4-H members bring a project or display to the Shawnee Mall. Exhibits are set up in center court and the day concludes with a fashion show at 2pm.

For youth 13 and older, the Southeast District 4-H Leadership Conference is a great opportunity to meet other 4-H'ers and become a better leader. This is a three day, two night trip to Ardmore.

During 4-H Month, 4-H families gather to make goodie trays for 4-H supporters and sponsors. Not only can you bring homemade treats, but you can also help decorate the trays and deliver them.

OFB Dinner Community Service Event (CPN Reunion Hall, CPN camp ground, from October 14, 2008 05:30 PM to October 14, 2008 07:30 PM ) — by sarah.weeks@okstate.edu

As a community service project, 4-H members can help serve the meal at the annual County Farm Bureau Dinner. This year the dinner will be October 14 at the CPN Reunion Hall, just south of Firelake Grocery. 4-H'ers are asked to wear 4-H jackets and arrive by 5:30pm.

The County 4-H Banquet will be October 11 at Rock Creek Church in Shawnee. 4-H members, volunteers and supporters are recognized and thier accomplishments are highlighted at this formal banquet.

October is Oklahoma 4-H month. Each year, 4-H members donate baby gifts to compile a basket for the first child born in Shawnee in October. Donations are due to OSU Extension by September 29. The basket is presented at 4pm on October 1st at Unity.

Officer training is a fun, hands-on session that helps prepare local club officers for thier leadership roles in the local 4-H club. The training is led by the county 4-H officers and is open to all 4-H club officers.

For 4-H members 11 to 13 years old, the Jr Leadership Program is designed to give tweener 4-H members a chance to build 4-H leadership skills.
