Welcome to the Pottawatomie County E-Update

Activities

  • Change for Change
    • If you or your club has additional $'s for change for change please bring them into the office ASAP and contact Dr. George Driever
  • Summer Project Day! July 13 from 9:00-3:00
    • $10 registration includes lunch – bring your favorite drink, water will be provided!
    • Project day is for youth ages 9-18 years old.  Each youth will complete 4-5 projects ready to enter into the Pottawatomie County Free Fair in September!  Sign up & $ is required by July 5th at 12:00 *minimum enrollment of 10 youth
    • This is a youth led event with County Teen Leaders planning and teaching projects!  Picture Frames (Morley Griffith), Tin Can Bird Feeders (Josey Moore) and Paper Mache Bowls (Kyleigh Merrick) are just a few of the projects for the day.  Amy and Cindy Larson will be leading the afternoon projects and activities – Thanks for show great leadership J
  • 2017 Live Out Loud
    • Registration due July 7th
    • The McClain County Live Out Loud 4-H Club invites all 4-H members from across the state of Oklahoma to join them for a day filled with fun educational and interactive workshops on Health Living.
  • CALLING YOUTH LEADERS!
    • Applications are available for 4-H Teens interested in applying for a County Leadership position.  DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS 12:00 pm AUGUST 25th
    • 2017 County Officer Application– must be 10 years old by January 1, 2017.  Completed a County or State Record Book, complete the application process and interview on October 10th.  County Leadership Team are the County Officers serving as the teen leadership board for County Council Meetings.
    • 2017 County Ambassador Application – must be 11 years old by January 1, 2017.  Complete the application process and interview on October 10th.  County Ambassadors represent the 4-H program in the community for fundraising, public awareness and community service leaders.

Livestock

  • Tulsa State Fair
    • July 1, 2017: Nomination Deadline for Market Steers, Barrows, Lambs, Goats and Breeding Commercial Ewes, Gilts, Does
      *Animal nomination must be submitted online and DNA sample mailed with a copy of the online receipt.
      August 1, 2017: Nomination Deadline for Commercial Heifers
      *Animal nomination must be submitted online and DNA sample mailed with a copy of the online receipt.
  • Oklahoma State Fair
    • Online Entries will open Saturday, July 1st

Horse Project

  • 2017 Equine Extravaganza July 11-13th
    • Registration due June 30th
    • This three-day program will offer Introduction to Hippology, Beginner Horse Judging and Intermediate/Advanced Horse Judging for any youth ages 12 to 18.

ANSI Club

  • 2017 Big3 Field Days
    • June 30th Registration & $20/participant due to Extension Office
    • The Big 3 Field Days July 18, 19, 20 are a great opportunity for youth to practice judging high quality livestock.  New this year on "Sheep Day" we will be participating in a Meat Judging Contest.  If you have questions contact Kyle Robinson.

Shooting Sports

  • Archery practice is taking a break until school starts in August.
