Robots, resumes and rabbits, oh my! This summer the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension has many exciting programs for youth ages eight to 18.

The summer kicks off 9 a.m. on June 14 with a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math day. Youth ages from ten to 16 will get hands on experience with virtual reality goggles, robots, coding and more.

“S.T.E.M programs are a great opportunity to learn about many unique things,” said Jackie Elliott, Oklahoma County OSU Extension summer intern. “I am really excited to help the participants build and launch rockets.”

Next, on June 15, is Financial Literacy and Job Readiness for ages 13 through 18 will get prepared for their futures with mock interviews, resume help and career advice.

From June 19 to 20 is Kids in the Kitchen where youth age nine to 12 will go to “cooking school” and learn about how to cook various foods and learn kitchen skills including how kitchen safety and how to prepare dishes.

Other events scheduled for this summer include 4-H Food Showdown, Jr. Master Gardener camp, Healthy Living for Kids and 4-H project camp.

“Each of our workshops is limited to a certain number of participants,” said LaDonna Hines, OSU Extension County Director.  “We encourage people to register early. Our workshops are always offered with a registration fee that only covers the actual cost of what it takes to present the workshop, so they’re affordable to most residents.”

The summer workshops are located at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Conference Center located at 2500 N.E. 63rd Street in Oklahoma City.  Pre-registration is required with payment for all workshops before being considered enrolled.  For more information about the Youth Summer Camps program, call our office at 713-1125 or visit our website at
