OSU Extension Offers Summer Youth Workshops

OSU EXTENSION OFFERS SUMMER YOUTH WORKSHOPS

What skills will your kids learn this summer?  How about becoming a certified babysitter, Jr. Master Gardener or even a chef?  These are only a few of the workshops that will be offered during the Summer Camps series held at the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service, 2500 NE 63rd Street, OKC, OK 73111.

“We are offering a wide variety of workshops this summer that can provide youth a chance to learn something new,” stated LaDonna Hines, Oklahoma County OSU Extension Director.  “Summer is the best time for young people to branch out and learn some new skills and have fun doing it.  Our workshops emphasize hands-on fun.”

The workshops will get started at the end of May with the “Babysitting 101” workshop on May 31 to June 1st from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Pre-registration for this workshop is $40 and space is limited.  Participants will leave the workshop being CPR and First Aid certified.

The Junior Master Gardener workshop will be offered on June 1st from 9 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  The pre-registration cost is $20.  The kids will participate in hands-on gardening activities and learn the basics of growing all kinds of plants, flowers and vegetables.  They will go home with their own “Jr. Master Gardener” t-shirt.

OSU Extension is offering many other workshops this summer:

·         Pizza & Pie, June 13, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
