OSU Extension Offers “Horticulture” Seminars

            March is a time to start thinking about your lawn and garden.  OSU Extension will be offering several workshops in the month of March to provide you materials needed to be successful in your lawn and garden.  These workshops will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Conference Center, located at 2500 NE 63rd Street in Oklahoma City.  There will be a $5.00 charge to attend each seminar.           

            On March 21st, Tuesday, the “Establishing Trees & Shrubs” workshop will give you steps to properly plant trees and shrubs.  Also, will discuss issues such as fertilizing and watering.  Then on March 29th, Wednesday, the “Fruit Growing” workshop will talk about different types of fruits that thrive best in Oklahoma along with what type of berries to plant.  On March 30th, Thursday, will be the “Vegetable Gardening” workshop and topics will include what time to plant certain vegetables, identification of vegetable insects and disease and what to do about them, and the most common question “Which tomato does best in Oklahoma”?

“We encourage anyone who wants to learn proper planting techniques for lawn or garden to attend these upcoming horticultural workshop”, stated Ray Ridlen, Horticulture Educator for the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service. 

If interested in attending any of these workshops, secure your spot by mailing registration fee of $5.00 each to OSU Extension Center, 2500 NE 63rd Street, OKC, OK 73111.  Walk-ins are also welcome.
