Gifts From Your Kitchen

Residents interested in learning more about creating their own gifts are invited to attend a one-day workshop on December 12 from 10:00 am to Noon or you may choose to come in the afternoon on December 14th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  The workshops will be held at the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service.

“Not only will our participants learn to make a wide variety of wonderful gifts,” commented Amanda Ford, a Registered Dietitian and the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator, “they will also take home three homemade gifts that they make during the workshop, ready to give to someone else.”

Workshop participants will also take home a cookbook full of recipes and gift ideas that can be used year-round.

“Buying gifts for people isn’t always that easy to do,” Ford responded.  “We live in a society where so many people already have so much that sometimes it’s hard to find anything they really need.  That’s why homemade gifts are so special and unique.  Everyone can use them and they’re always appreciated.”

The gifts being made during the workshop will each offer time-saving as well as money saving elements.

“If you like the idea of making gifts for those on your holiday list,” Ford stated, “this is the workshop for you.  Not only will you learn everything you need to know to make a wide variety of gifts, but you will also have a lot of fun while you do it.”

The workshop will be held at the OSU Extension Conference Center, located at 2500 NE 63rd Street, OKC, OK 73111.  A $25 pre-registration fee is due by December 8th.

To register for the class or for more information, contact the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service at 713-1125 or you may download the registration form under the FCS workshops on the OSU Extension website at
