Introducing Crystal Ashalintubbi Shipman, Agric. Educator

The OSU Extension Office in LeFlore County is pleased to announce the addition of a new educator, Crystal Ashalintubbi-Shipman. Crystal will be serving as the new Agriculture/4-H Educator. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Plant and Soil Science. After graduation, she spent 5 years as the agriculture education teacher at Smithville Schools. Crystal has spent the last 3 years teaching the agronomy courses at Eastern Oklahoma State College. Crystal will be in charge of providing leadership to agricultural producers and 4-H youth development programs in a dual assignment. In addition to being named a Significant Woman in Agriculture by the Oklahoma Division of Agriculture, she has been chosen as the LeFlore County Ag Woman of the Year that will be awarded at the Women in Agriculture Conference held on Friday, July 20, 2018. Agri-business and small business owners have the opportunity to attend this information packed conference at Eastern Oklahoma State College, McAlester Campus. Attendees will be able to choose from 10 different sessions, such as Small Business Development and Small Business Grants, Aquaponics, Greenhouses and Marketing of those products. There will also be sessions on Property Leasing including discussions on leasing rates, legal and liability issues for hunting, recreation and grazing, Value Added Beef and the Vac 45 Program, New Tax Law and LLC’s, Marketing Through Social Media, Oil and Gas Updates, the Food Modernization and Home Bakery Act, Pollinators, Annie’s Project, and Federal Cost Share Programs. Agri-tourism venue owners will be part of the luncheon panel discussion. This Women in Ag and Small Business Conference is being presented by Ouachita Mountains R C & D, Eastern Oklahoma State College Agricultural Department, OSU Extension, S. E. Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Choctaw Nation Agricultural Outreach and many other sponsors. The registration fee is $20, which includes lunch. Women who are agricultural producers from 11 S. E. Oklahoma counties will also be honored with one woman being chosen at the conference as “Ag Woman of the Year”. Exhibits and door prizes will also be part of the conference.
