Jackson County's Annual Spring Wheat Field Tour - 2013 (Bob Howards Home Site and the Southwest Research and Extension Center, from April 25, 2013 04:00 PM to April 25, 2013 06:30 PM ) — by gary.strickland@okstate.edu

The tour will begin at 4 p.m., at the Bob Howard home site located 4 miles north of County Road 213 (9 miles east of Jackson County Courthouse) and Highway 62 intersection. A wheat variety and county herbicide projects discussion will occur at this site. The tour will then move to the Southwest Research and Extension Center located 3 miles south of Altus on Highway 283 where the Regional Wheat Variety Performance Trial, Wheat and Barley Forage Comparison Studies, and Wheat Freeze, Disease, and Insect overviews will be discussed. The tour will conclude by 6:30 p.m. with a dinner being served at this time. The Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association is sponsoring this tour.

Registration begins 9 a.m. at the Jackson County OSU Extension Office. The group will leave for the site by 9:45 a.m.

County Wide Quarterly 4H Meeting - April 2013 (Laugh Out Loud in Lawton, from April 20, 2013 10:00 AM to April 20, 2013 02:00 PM ) — by gary.strickland@okstate.edu

Our next quarterly 4H meeting will be at Laugh-Out -Loud in Lawton, Oklahoma. Cost will be $7 for 4Her's and friends and $13.95 for Adults (youth are paying half price). This will get youth and adults pizza and a $10 game card. Additional game cards can be purchased at participants expense. We will meet at the Jackson County Extension Office by 10 a.m. and travel to Lawton. The building opens to our group at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is required by April 17th!!!

The meeting will be held at the OSU Extension Office. Cloverbud ages (5-7) will come in from 3 - 4 p.m. with 8 year olds and up coming in at 4 - 5:30 p.m. **While 8 year olds are considered cloverbud age we have seen that this age group, in general, have been well aclimated to working with the robotics sets. Therefore, they will be included with the 4H age youth.
