Many cattlemen ask the question what feed is best for my cows during the winter. Well while that is a valid question, there are many factors that go into making that decision. Many of those questions have to do with what the goals of your operation are and how you intend to meet those goals. Body condition score is something that every producer should consider when developing a feed program. What do you cows score; what score should your herd maintain; and what feed supplementation will help you meet those goals; are a few of the question we should ask.
Other questions concerning the use of minerals should be addressed in any feed supplementation program. The Greer County OSU Extension Service, Helena of Reed and Feed Source of Hollis have set up a Cattle Supplementation Education Program to help producers answer some of those feeding questions. The program will be at the Willow Community Building on Thursday, November 5th at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
