CHICKASHA, Okla. -      Over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease.  Each year, Alzheimer’s disease kills more people than breast and prostate cancer combined. The number of persons who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and those who care for an Alzheimer’s patients continues to grow.

Have you ever started on an errand in your house and forgot what you were looking for?  Have you asked yourself “Where did I put my keys?”  It is amazing how many people do these things and may wonder if they are getting Alzheimer’s disease.  Alzheimer’s disease is not about simply forgetting.  With Alzheimer’s disease it is not about misplacing a set of keys.  With Alzheimer’s, the patient may not know what to do with a set of car keys.

To help Grady County residents to gain information and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease that is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, Grady County Extension will be hosting a public event called “Alzheimer’s Awareness.”  The presentation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Grady County Extension Office’s conference room.  The Extension office is located at 828 West Choctaw in Chickasha.

The program is sponsored by the Oklahoma Home and Community Education group of Grady County and the Grady County Extension office.

The public is invited to hear this presentation by a representative from the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  Please RSVP for the program by calling (405) 224-2216.
