Beaver Co. OSU Extension and the Beaver Co Pioneer Library have partnered to offer Tai Chi classes on Mondays and Wednesdays in April. Classes start at 10 am. Tai Chi is a combination of gentle physical exercise and stretching. It is safe for people of all ages, as it does not put too much stress on the muscles and joints. No special clothing or equipment are needed. Contact the library to enroll-625-3076. Studies are showing that tai chi can improved balance, fitness, and flexibility, and might cut the risk of falls in older people. Tai chi also appears to reduce pain and the symptoms of depression in some cases and cognitive function in people with and without chronic conditions. Other possible benefits include improved sleep quality and an enhanced immune system.

Several studies indicate sewing is mentally and physically good for you, as it creates a chance to relax and create something to boost your confidence. These free, hands-on sewing workshops will be held at the Beaver County OSU Extension Office with supplies and sewing machines provided. Encourage your friends or family to join us. Sewing Workshop to create an EASY T-Shirt Dress. April 29th 1:00PM or later until done Please RSVP to 580-625-3464 Participants will need to bring 1 youth size t-shirt of their choice. A variety of cotton fabrics will be available for the skirt.

May 10, 2019 Co-Parenting Through Divorce (Beaver Co Extension Office Room, from May 10, 2019 09:00 AM to May 10, 2019 12:00 PM)
Must Pre-Register. Co-Parenting Classes will be held from 9:00am-12:00noon on May 10th. How parents handle the divorce can make it better or worse for their children. Co-Parenting for Resilience is a program to help divorcing parents instill resilience in their children. Because divorce can cause numerous problems for children, many Oklahoma judges are requiring divorcing parents to attend a co-parenting workshop before their divorce will be granted. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate to present to their judge. Co-Parenting for Resilience is a 4 hour class designed to help parents: Learn how to keep their children out of the middle of their divorce; Recognize problems that their children may experience; Discover ways to change their own behaviors to help children adjust and overcome the challenges of divorce. Registration is $35.00. Contact the Beaver County Extension for details or to pre-register at least 3 business days prior to the class.
