Dec 15, 2018 4-H Family Event (Beaver Fairgrounds Commercial Building, Beaver, OK, from Dec 15, 2018 03:00 PM to Dec 15, 2018 08:00 PM)
The Beaver County 4-H Officer Team would like to invite all 4-H families to participate in a 4-H Family Event starting at 3:00pm on December 15th at the Beaver Fairgrounds Commercial Building, directly following the 4-H Food Show.  Tentative schedule: 3:00pm - Trent Gibbs (from Stephens County), State 4-H President’s Presentation & Workshop 4:00pm – Multi-Topic Non-Competitive Skillathon Challenge  (Will consist of 6 various Mini Skill-A-Thons: Dog Breeds, Pig Breeds, Basic Components of Internal Combustion Engine, Parts of a Sheep, Foods & Cooking, and Interior Design & Housing.)  Participants will break up into six groups and will rotate around through each Skill-A-Thon.  Skill-A-Thons have been posted on the Beaver Extension Website at: for participants to study. 5:30pm – Meal Provided 6:00-8:00pm – 4-H Dance (Bob & Shirley Walters will be available to teach a few dance steps to those interested in learning.) Everyone will need to bring snacks; clubs are responsible for bringing drinks.  Please bring a friend and RSVP to the Beaver County 4-H Extension Office by December 13th at 580-625-3464 for meal headcount.

Many baked goods available in the store are highly processed and include a lot of ingredients. Baking at home gives you the power to control exactly what goes into your food. This lunch-time program will offer some techniques to help the home baker improve on cake baking skills. Accurate measuring is the difference between a light, moist cake and a gummy, dense one. Did you know that you lose about 25° of heat every time you open the oven door? Cake Baking Tips presentation on December 17th in the Fair Building Kitchen at 12pm. Bring a sack lunch and a friend and let them eat cake!

Beaver 4-H Club will meet on Monday, December 17th, 6:00pm at the Beaver County Extension Conference Room. Gift Mixes In A Jar Workshop will be presented so members will have a gift for the holidays to give to a friend or family member.
Dec 19, 2018 Pesticide Private Applicators Training (Laverne Community Building, Laverne, OK, from Dec 19, 2018 05:30 PM to Dec 19, 2018 08:00 PM)
Private Pesticide Applicator’s license will expire at the end of this year. According to the Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry, “Private Applicators are any person who uses or supervises the use of any restricted use pesticide for the purposes of producing any agriculture commodity on property owned or rented by the person or his employer or on the property of another person’s (if applied without compensation other than trading of agricultural commodities or person services between producers). Private applicators are any person using restricted use pesticides. Harper County OSU Extension Service, Darrell McBee, will be offering a Private Applicator Workshop for new and expiring licenses at the Laverne Community Center on Wednesday, December 19th. A sponsored meal will be served at 5:30pm. The training will start immediately after the meal. Harper County Extension will charge a fee of $25.00 for training which includes test packet.
