- This event is a wonderful opportunity for club members to help state legislators learn more about the 4-H program and the positive impact it has on the communities across the state. About 80 youth will be participating in this year’s event, including the state leadership council, 4-H Ambassador and district officers. A special emphasis at this year’s event will be on 4-H Operation: Military Kids, which ties into the citizenship mandate. Delegates will be interviewing children who have a parent involved in military service and how it affects their lives. The 4-H’ers will share this information with state legislators. 4-H Operation: Military Kids is the U.S. Army’s collaborative effort with America’s communities to support the children and youth impacted by deployment. Launched in April 2005, OMK is part of the 4-H/Military Partnerships Project. For more than a dozen years, 4-H Day at the Capitol has been a successful event and given club members the opportunity to share how much of an impact 4-H has had on them personally.
