If you've only used your waffle iron for waffles, you're seriously missing out. Thanks to its distinctive honeycombed surface, the breakfast gadget is like a panini press, mini grill, and toaster oven all rolled into one—and that means it can cook much, much more than just waffles. Bring a lunch and a drink but samples will be available. Invite a friend to join you too! Please RSVP. This is the OHCE October Leaders’ Lesson also.

Entry Fee is $5.00 per entrant. May display as many quilts as desired. You may sell your quilts if you wish. All sales will be the responsibility of the seller. No percentage fee required by the museum. Best of Show, to be determined by viewers, will be awarded $50. Building opens at 9AM to hang quilts and set up displays. Antique dolls and toys may be displayed for free; they will not be judged. Admission: Free Will Donation; The Quilt Show is a fundraiser for the Museum.

4-H’ers may decorate one pumpkin each. Age divisions as of September 1, 2017: Jr (3rd-5th grades), Intermediate (6th-8th grades) and Sr (9th-12th grades) . Rules are as follows: Pumpkins must display a 4-H clover Names must be on the bottom of the pumpkin No carved pumpkins Pumpkins must be taken away at the end of the banquet. It is suggested that you donate your pumpkins to be displayed at a local business.

The 4-H Awards Banquet will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd at the Beaver Fairgrounds with “4-H Rocks” as the theme. The meal will start at 6:00pm with the Awards Program starting at 6:30pm. The Extension Office will furnish the meat (ham), paper goods, etc. For those that cannot eat ham, Overstreet 4-H Club will furnish a pot roast. Each family is asked to bring one Side Dish and one Dessert. Beaver 4-H decorates and Forgan 4-H serves. 2017 Beaver County 4-H Officers will preside over the banquet: Whitley Welch, Mary Morrison, Chris Mills, Kane Magana, Dannie Regnier-Nelson, and Carson Bolinger. The 4-H Awards Banquet is a formal and prestige event, please dress accordingly.

County Extension Education Clubs. Registration starts at 9:30am. Lunch and childcare are provided free. My demonstration is Marker Magic. Other demonstrations include: Repurposing China and Glassware, Joyful Food Gifts, Doily Crafting, and more. Bring a friend; it’s always a good time!

Due to the Red Cross Blood Drive on the same day, Council will be moved to the Extension Office. Please make Pot Luck meal plans for a crockpot dish or straight from the refrigerator dish. 9:00am Registration—9:30am Meeting Called to Order. Business to include Election of Officers, Selection of 2018 Lesson & Fair Exhibits, Committee Reports, and Nov. Lesson Distribution. Liz will lead a Make and Take project for the program after lunch.

Oct 18, 2017 NW District Leadership Conference (Springhill Suites, Enid, OK, from Oct 18, 2017 06:00 PM to Oct 19, 2017 04:00 PM)
Join us for an overnight trip to the Springhill Suites in Enid October 18-19, along with delegates from 16 other counties in the Northwest District. This is a great leadership opportunity, but you will also have fun with workshops, entertainment, dancing and a service learning project. Delegates must be 13 years of age by January 1, 2018 or in the 7th grade. Conference registration is from 4:00-6:00pm on the 18th and conference will conclude at 4:00pm on the 19th. The cost is $68.00 per youth. Registration forms with conference fee is due to the Extension Office by September 11th. Delegates can run for a NW District 4-H Office. The deadline to file is due in our office with paperwork by October 2nd.

Suzi Parron documented over one thousand barn quilts in the process of writing her 2012 book, “Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement;” her second book, “Following the Barn Quilt Trail,” was published in May of 2016. In her talk which features over one hundred stunning photographs of barn quilts, Suzi will take us on a journey along the quilt trail, beginning with the very first barn quilt, which stemmed fro Donna Sue Groves and her wish to honor her mother's quilting art. Cost $5.00.

Nov 18, 2017 Make-It-Yourself With Wool Contest (Woodward, from Nov 18, 2017 08:00 AM to Nov 18, 2017 12:00 PM)
Each participant must make a garment of at least 60% wool and model it in the contest in Woodward on November 18th. Age categories as of January 1st of the current year: Pre-Teen (12 & Under); Junior (13-16); and Senior (17-24). Entry Fee is $12.00 per garment entered plus an $8.00 Fabric Test Fee for each entry. Entries must be postmarked by September 15th to Ellis County Extension. Entry forms available by calling the Woodward Co Extension Office at 580-254-3391.
