The Beaver County 4-H Awards Banquet will be held on Monday, October 15th at 6:30pm at the Balko Baptist Church. Beaver 2017-18 Beaver County 4-H Officers will preside over the banquet. The 4-H Decorated Pumpkin Contest will be held in conjunction with the banquet.

It’s still not too late to participate in the Beaver County 4-H Shooting Sports program. If you are interested in Archery, Shotgun, Air Pistol and/or Air Rifle, this is for you. Shooting Sports Club has already started practicing for this year and meets several times a month for practice. Upcoming practice date: Oct 16th. All times are at 6:00pm at the Beaver Shooting Range.  One parent or responsible adult must be present at every meeting/practice attended.  Call JC Morrison at 580-553-1280 or Jeri Morrison at 580-553-1732 if you are interested in participating in shooting sports.

Join us for a two-night trip to the Sheraton in Midwest City October 17-19, along with delegates from 29 other counties in the West District. This is a great leadership opportunity, but you will also have fun with workshops, entertainment, dancing and a service learning project. Delegates must be in 7th grade as of September 1, 2018. Conference registration is from 5:00-7:00pm on the 17th with conference concluding by noon on the 19th. The cost is $148.00 per youth. Registration forms with conference fee are due to the Extension Office by Sept 10th. Delegates can run for a District 4-H Office. The deadline to file is due to the Beaver Extension office with paperwork by Oct 5th.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! A County-Wide 4-H Officer and Parliamentary Procedure Training will be held on October 23rd at 6:00pm at the Beaver Fairgrounds. All 4-H members and parents are encouraged to attend. It is vitally important for all 2018-19 local 4-H club officers to attend. If you are not an officer and would like to learn what entails holding an office, your attendance is also very important. A meal will be provided at 6:00pm. RSVP to the Extension Office will be require for meal headcount.

Must Pre-Register. Co-Parenting Classes will be held from 9:00am-12:00noon on October 24th. How parents handle the divorce can make it better or worse for their children. Co-Parenting for Resilience is a program to help divorcing parents instill resilience in their children. Because divorce can cause numerous problems for children, many Oklahoma judges are requiring divorcing parents to attend a co-parenting workshop before their divorce will be granted. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate to present to their judge. Co-Parenting for Resilience is a 4 hour class designed to help parents: Learn how to keep their children out of the middle of their divorce; Recognize problems that their children may experience; Discover ways to change their own behaviors to help children adjust and overcome the challenges of divorce. Registration is $35.00. Contact the Beaver County Extension for details or to pre-register at least 3 business days prior to the class.

Life hacking refers to any trick, shortcut, skill, or novelty method that increases productivity and efficiency, in all walks of life.~ Wikipedia. Please join us for this fun and informative program. Open to all interested. Here are some ideas of clever life hacks: Place a stocking over the end of your sweeper hose to find small, missing items. Use a hair straightener to iron a shirt collar in a pinch. Use nail polish to color code and identify keys. Use a straw to remove the stem and core from strawberries. Use a bread sack tab to mark the end of a roll of tape.

Beaver 4-H Club will host a Thanksgiving Dinner for all their members and families on November 10th at 3:00pm at the Beaver Fairgrounds. Members need to be at the Beaver Fairgrounds kitchen area by 11:00am to help with meal preparation.

Private Pesticide Applicator’s license will expire at the end of this year. According to the Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry, “Private Applicators are any person who uses or supervises the use of any restricted use pesticide for the purposes of producing any agriculture commodity on property owned or rented by the person or his employer or on the property of another person’s (if applied without compensation other than trading of agricultural commodities or person services between producers). Private applicators are any person using restricted use pesticides. Beaver County OSU Extension Service will be offering a Private Applicator Workshop for new and expiring licenses at the Balko School Cafeteria on Thursday, November 15th. A sponsored meal will be served at 5:30pm. The training will start immediately after the meal. Beaver County Extension will charge a fee of $25.00 for training which includes test packet. RSVP by November 5th to ensure enough packets are available and for meal count to the Beaver County OSU Extension Center at 580-625-3464.
