Each age division of 4-H work has specific items and sewing techniques. Guidelines for these items and sewing techniques are available at the OSU Extension Center. The purpose of the contest is to have the opportunity to judge the construction skills of the 4-H member. Fit, color, selection, and texture are also considered of the modeled garment. Date for the contest is determined at the annual calendar planning meeting in July or August. 4-H members may enter garments listed for their age division. No garment can be entered by the 4-H member that was not constructed by that 4-H member. First, second, & third is determined on each article of clothing within each class of each age division. If a class has more than 3 entries, entries not placing first thru third will receive a blue or red award. There will be an overall Champion and Reserve Champion in the of the Levels (1, 2, 3 & 4).
